Shopping Gran CanariaThere is a wide range of shops in the south of Gran Canaria. Shopping in Gran Canaria is very attractive for tourist and vacationers because of the low tax.

Clothes shopping

In the south and the tourist areas you will mostly find the same clothes in markets and shopping centers. Cheerful and colorful dresses for around 10 euros and linen shirts for men. These are nice clothes for during your vacation, but do not be surprised when you encounter other people with the same clothes.

In the shopping centers in Maspalomas and Meloneras can find more fashionable clothes. Meloneras is also know for it's chique boutiques. In the big shopping centers in Playa del Ingles and other places aiming on the gay tourism you will find a lot of fashionable menswear and modern underwear.
Lower on this page we give you the best shopping centers for a day shopping for both men and women.

Most products on the Canary Islands include 7% Tax. Here it is called IGIC. Tax percentage is this low to stimulate the trade on the Island. Take a good look at the pricelabels if IGIC is already included. Tax can sometimes be calculated at the pay desk. This also counts for Restaurants and services.

Luxurious Shopping Gran Canaria

The more upper class shops of Gran Canary you will find in the old center of Las Palmas or the Boulevard of Meloneras (near Maspalomas). Here you will find the boutiques with all the famous designer brands.

Supermarkets in Gran Canaria

Mercadona SupermarketThe supermarkets in the South Coast offer most major brands you have at home. much is imported for the tourists. The supermarkets, and especially the local supermarket on the corners are often more expensive than the larger supermarkets where locals do their shopping. These are usually located outside the tourist centers. If you stay on Gran Canaria for a longer time it´s advicable to get your weekly shoppings from Mercadona or Lidl. Especially Mercadona has a big variety in products for very good prices.
